We are a youth theatre program serving Carroll and Grayson Counties, Galax, and Beyond!

Summer Stage offers programs for very young actors and older actors at the Gladeville School in Galax, VA. Follow us on Facebook at Grayson County Summer Stage and please take a moment to visit the rest of our website!

Mission Statement: to develop the creativity and leadership skills of youth through outstanding theatre performances for the community.

Our program costs approximately $23,000 per season which we raise through grants and fundraisers.

At Summer Stage we understand the financial responsibilities families face. Therefore, we offer a sliding scale of $20 -$100 for the three- week program and $40-$125 sliding scale for the four-week program until May 15, 2026. Please pay what you are able.

Main Stage Programs

Ages: Rising 5th through 2026 High School graduate

Location: Gladeville Elementary School in Galax, VA

Three Ways to Participate in Main Stage:

  1.  Join for Session One—Main Stage Comedy (one week)
  2. Join for Session Two —Main Stage Musical (three weeks)
  3. Join for Session One AND Session Two (four weeks)

Session One Only – Main Stage Comedy

Learn the elements of physical comedy and characterization as you prepare to perform Mayhem In The Museum!

Description: Everyone at the Museum is excited about the Installation Party when the artist Dot will unveil her new painting. But when two ghosts appear, steal the painting, and kidnap Dot’s mother, there really is mayhem in the museum! Audiences will enjoy the hilarious attemps of Speedy the Waiter, The Detectives, The Chef, Art Director and wiggly school children as they try to solve this comedy mystery! Most roles are non-gender specific.

Ages: Rising 5th grade – 2026 High School graduate

Dates: June 15-19, 2026

Time: 9am To 4pm  (Bus service available)

Performance:  June 19 at 10 am

Fee: $50

Early Bird Discount: $40 (available until May 15, 2026)

Regular Fee is $50 (May 16 to June 15, 2026)

Session Two Only – Main Stage Musical

Learn the elements of musical theatre as you prepare to perform Olympus: The Greek Rock Musical!

Description: OLYMPUS is a laugh-out-loud rock musical where ancient myths meet modern mischief!

The Greek gods, tired of their immortal routines, spark a competition to meddle with mortals and prove who’s the greatest Greek god of all time.

When a group of modern-day cousins set off on a hike to “Olympus Overlook,” they have no idea they are about to be tested by ancient deities.

With catchy songs, numerous solos, heartfelt moments, and plenty of laughs, Olympus is a mythic adventure about family, connection, and discovering that the real view from the top is the one you share together.

All roles are non-gender specific.

Ages: Rising 5th grade – 2026 High School graduate

Dates: June 22-July 11, 2026

Time: 9 a.m.  To 3:30 p.m.     Bus Service Available

Performance: July 10 at 7 pm  And July 11 at 2 pm

Sliding Scale Discount: $20 to $ 100- pay what you are able. Available until May 15, 2026

Typical Fee is $100 (May 16 to June 22, 2026)

Session One and Two – Comedy & Musical

Ages: Rising 5th grade – 2026 High School graduate

Dates: June 15-July 11. 2026    Bus Service Available

Performance for the Comedy: June 19 at 10 a.m.

Performance for the Musical: July 10 at 7 p.m. & July 11 at 2 p. m.

Sliding Scale Discount: $40 to $125—pay what you are able
